Some Tips to Help you Advertise the Right Way from the Start

I have been advertising on the internet for a very long time and want to share some tips that I think can be helpful to others. Not only have I been advertising my stuff online, but I have ran advertising sites for some time now. I have noticed a lot of common mistakes and plan on highlighting them to help increase the awareness of others. Hopefully these free advertising tips are helpful enough to help others advertising more effectively and efficiently.

For the purpose of these tips I am referencing any type of website that lets its visitors post free ads online.

Things you SHOULD NOT DO when Advertising on Free Sites

Never automate the process by using scripts or macros. It might be an easy solution that can get some fast results, but it is not a good idea for a long term website. This is considered pure raw spam, it is very annoying to people and the webmasters. It can draw a lot of unwanted attention and the major search engines will most likely eventually find an easy way to penalize these spammers. Any webmaster worth their salt will be able to detect spam bots and will remove them.

Avoid using proxies and multiple accounts / usernames on the same website. By using proxy or making multiple accounts you throw up red flags to the webmaster running the advertising site. This makes you look like you are hiding something and trying to be tricky. Proxies and multiple accounts can easily be detected. Odds are if you are using a proxy, others have access to it as well and when someone else gets that proxy flagged it can get your account banned.

Never post duplicate content or the same ad more than once on a website. We might go as far as recommending that you post unique content on each website that you advertise on for best results.

Never flood an advertising site with a lot of ads in a short period of time. Instead always spread out your ads over time.

Never use a messaging system to advertise. This is a sure way to get banned fast by sending out spam via private messages.

Don’t use URL shorteners or cloaked links. A lot of people use these to hide affiliate links, but it is a very bad practice.

Never advertise on a site that does not welcome it.

I recommend that you DO NOT try advertising questionable content. You will find that it will not stick as well and will most likely get you blocked from the advertising website. I am referring to stuff such as adult content, drug content, proxies, illegal software or downloads, and anything else that is questionable.

Try to avoid posting short advertisements with minimal text and a link.

Never piggyback off of other peoples ads, instead make your own.

Don’t expect immediate results and don’t try to rush your advertising efforts.

Don’t buy links from anyone unless they are quality NoFollow links that will get you traffic in return. It is not worth risking your website trying to game the system.
